Islam preached that we are the sons and daughters of one man (Adam) and one woman (Eve). Love, respect, and cooperation must prevail among humankind. There should be no persecution or discrimination based on sex, colour, race, or creed, as human beings are equal before their Creator. The only criterion of preference before Allah is piety and good conduct. The Holy Book of Islam puts those principles in perspective: 

“O Humankind, we have created you from a single male and female, and made you into nations and tribe that you make know each other, and not to despise each other, the most honored of you before Allah are those who are the most pious among you.” Surah Al-Hujurat Verse 13
